Consulting Canadian Youth

Date: To the end of April
Location : Throughout Canada
Status : Completed

To highlight youth, a major focus of the VIIIe Sommet de la Francophonie, the Government of Canada has organized a series of consultations to gather opinions from young people on the issues that concern them. Consultations were held throughout Canada. "Listening to what young people have to say will put us in a better position to accurately speak on their behalf," says Diane Marleau, Minister of International Cooperation and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, who is spearheading the project. Consultations took place in Edmonton, Alberta; St. Boniface, Manitoba; Sudbury, Ontario; Ste. Anne du Ruisseau, Nova Scotia; Bouctouche, New Brunswick; and Sherbrooke, Quebec. A final meeting was held at the end of April in Ottawa and was attended by representatives from each consultation session.
