Date: March 15 - July 31, 1999
Location : Francophone schools in New Brunswick
Status : Ongoing

The Francophonie Future Contest is aimed at young people between the ages of 6 and 19 attending one of the province's schools. They must write a two-page letter describing the impact that the VIIIe Sommet de la Francophonie will have on their daily lives. The letters will be reviewed by a jury. Quotes from the top prize-winning letters will be printed on huge banners that will decorate the venues where Summit activities will be held in Moncton in September. The aim of the competition is to make young people more aware of the international francophone community and their own francophone identity.
To enter, contestants must send their letter, along with their name, age, address, school and grade to: Francophonie Future Contest, Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, P.O. Box 6000, Fredericton, NB, E3B 5H1, or e-mail their entry to ilegare@gov.nb.ca. The contest winners will receive Summit T-shirts and posters.
