symposium: "La Francophonie internationale: un univers de réseaux" Date:March 25 and 26, 1999 Location :Université de Moncton, New Brunswick Status :Completed
Over the past few years, the organization of La Francophonie at the international level has tended toward the use of networks or, in other words, toward building relationships that go beyond the framework of government intervention. The general purpose of the symposium was to study the concept and place of networks within the international francophone community. The symposium "La Francophonie internationale: un univers de réseaux" brought together about 25 speakers from several countries of La Francophonie. It was chaired by Jean-Louis Roy, former Secretary-General of the Agence de coopération culturelle et technique (ACCT) and visiting scholar in the department of political science at the Université de Moncton for the 1998-1999 year. The symposium had two main components: the first analyzed the relative importance of the international francophone community in the globalization movement, while the second studied the issues associated with francophone networks. Central to the deliberation were numerous thematic workshops related to the symposium topic.
