Symposium: Date:August 10-13, 1999 Location :Moncton, New Brunswick Status :Confirmed
Sustainable management of aquatic resources remains an objective that quite often proves difficult to achieve in most of the world’s fisheries. For many countries in La Francophonie, this is a very serious concern. The mission of this symposium is to promote and encourage sustainable management of aquatic resources among countries in La Francophonie. The symposium’s objectives are to:
exchange ideas on management of aquatic resources by countries in La Francophonie;
identify sustainable management strategies that promote conservation while achieving most other fisheries objectives;
introduce other countries in La Francophonie to Canada’s fisheries sector.
The symposium may bring together representatives of La Francophonie, Canadian fishers and industry leaders from the fisheries sector, representatives of environmental groups, academics, researchers, representatives of the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick as well as the general public
