The phenomenal growth in biomedical science has fueled an emerging debate on and reexamination of the new relationships between science, humans and society. The International Symposium on Bioethics will strive to define and reflect on the foundations of “the ethics of living beings”, by addressing the many facets of this topic: legal, linguistic, scientific, philosophical, cultural and political. Participants in the symposium will be divided into workshops focusing on the following themes:
- the concept of bioethics;
- bioethics and multidisciplinarity;
- bioethics and cultures.
The general public will be invited to a conference on bioethics on July 28 and the presentation of abstracts of the workshops, on July 30.
