Initi@tives99 will be divided in four parts:
·August 26-27: a meeting of the Guidance Council and Experts Committee of the Virtual Francophone University (UVF), to discuss the summary of the first achievements.
· August 27-29: an international symposium on the theme of "Virtual Universities, towards an egalitarian teaching".
· August 27-29: an exhibition on the theme "La Francophonie in Numbers: on the eve of the IIIrd Millenium".
· August 30: one day of discussions and conferences on the stakes of the information highway development.

Around 200 people are expected to attend the symposium locally, including about thirty international speakers. Most of the sessions will be webcast so as to allow a wider participation. Moreover, some sessions will be retransmitted by visio-conference to the two other campuses of the Université de Moncton (Moncton and Shippagan) as well as to the New Brunswick Community College in Dieppe.

The exhibition will also be open to the public. About forty exhibitors are expected, one third of which will becoming from outside Canada. The others will come mostly from Quebec, New Brunswick and other francophone regions of Canada. The discussions and conferences of August 30 will address four specific aspects of the development of the information highway: language; security and transactions; human resources training; royalties and copyrights.
