The Secrétariat d'organisation du XII^e Sommet de la Francophonie provides a centre, from October 16 to 19, 2008, that is set up to enable optimal coverage of the event.

The press centre provides work areas equipped with telephones and fax machines, among other things. Long-distance calls from these telephones must be charged to a calling card. Phone cards can be purchased and cell phones can be rented at the press centre. A limited number of computer stations are available. You are invited to bring your own portable computer.

You have the services of a host broadcaster that provides audio and video coverage of the main events outlined in the official program. Production services and additional work areas are also available according to a pre-determined fee schedule (PDF, 215 KB).

The website is one of the Summit's main communication tools. It provides the following information:

• The daily schedule
• Last-minute changes
• Press releases, speeches and official documents
• Copyright-free, high-definition photos taken by the host photographer
• Many videos of official events, some live.

You can find out about announcements and changes to the Summit's activity program at any time through the RSS feed.

Please refer to the technical details concerning the electrical current and television system used in Canada and make sure that your equipment is able to comply:

• The electricity standard is 110 volts and 60 Hertz;
• The television system used is NTSC. No PAL transmission facilities are provided. A PAL-NTSC decoder may be reserved as needed with the host broadcaster.
